Biography

Ron Miller is a retired Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Northwest Natural Gas Company. Upon graduation he was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers, serving as combat engineer in the South Pacific. In 1947, he joined Portland Gas and Coke Company, which later became Northwest Natural Gas Company. In his 45 years with the company he played a significant role in the development of liquified natural gas and spearheaded the drilling for gas deposits in the Mist area, resulting in the only commercial quantities of natural gas discovered so far in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Miller has been a leader in a number of professional organizations and is an ASME fellow. He has served as Director, President, and Chairman of the Portland Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member and Vice President of Associated ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ Industries. Mr. Miller has been a life-long supporter of OSU and has served on the Board of Trustees for the OSU Foundation. He received the OSU Alumni Association E.B. Lemon Award in 1998.
